Rolling stock

There are currently 46 items of rolling stock registered to run on the OBR, the majority of which are owned by industries connected to the railway.

A breakdown of the stock is something like this:

  • 8 x Coal (both 4-wheel and bogies)
  • 6 x Tankers (both 4-wheel and bogies)
  • 14 x Various tubs and skips
  • 10 x Miscellaneous
  • 4 x Military
  • 2 x Guards vans
  • 2 x Passenger vehicles

Tankers

The railway hosts a fleet of tanker wagons owned by P&M Coal Tar Products, carrying all sorts of noxious substances.

Military trains

The army’s Mechanised Fighting Force has a base connected to the OBR, and makes use of the railway to transport all manner of equipment.

Special vehicles

Some specialised vehicles run on the OBR, such a a long beam-bogie wagon that is used to transport unusual loads such as the beam for a steam pumping engine.
